Gordano School is celebrating the success of 49 A Level students who took part in the UKMT Senior Maths Challenge. 7 received Gold certificates, 9 received Silver and 16 received Bronze.
Our Year 13 Design & Technology students recently had the fantastic opportunity to visit Amalgam, a leading professional model-making company. Amalgam creates precision scale models for architects, developers, engineers, and naval architects — blending cutting-edge technology with traditional craftsmanship to deliver exactly what each client needs.
We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of Natalia, one of our former students from Gordano School, who has recently completed her undergraduate Master’s degree in Engineering Science at Brasenose College, University of Oxford.
In her reflective student blog post, Natalia shares an inspiring account of her four years at Oxford.
A journey she describes as “intense” but also “the best decision she ever made.” From engaging with world-leading academics to dancing at college balls, Natalia embraced every opportunity that came her way.
Her time at Oxford culminated in an innovative Fourth Year Project titled “What the Fork? A Robotic System for Personalised Kitchen Drawer Organisation.” Combining humour with high-level research, Natalia developed a robotic system capable of sorting kitchen items intelligently, even integrating a Large Language Model (similar to ChatGPT) to adapt to different users’ preferences.
Natalia also writes warmly about the friendships and experiences that defined her time at Brasenose, from debating quirky topics in the Junior Common Room to enjoying the legendary weekend brunches (and over 300 hash browns!).
We are incredibly proud of Natalia’s success and the creativity, curiosity, and dedication she continues to embody. Her story is a wonderful example of where passion for learning can lead — from Gordano School to the heart of Oxford’s Engineering Science community.
Congratulations, Natalia, on your outstanding achievement!
On the last day of term, Year 7 students hosted a spooktacular Halloween Cake Sale during lunchtime in the Elliot Hall, and it was a fantastic event filled with treats, smiles, and generosity!
It’s been a thrilling term of rugby across the year groups, with plenty of grit, determination, and standout performances!
The Year 9 Netball Team had an incredible win against Clevedon School this week, finishing with an impressive 34–5 scoreline! The team showed fantastic teamwork and determination throughout the match.
Every year, our Languages Department proudly celebrates the European Day of Languages – a Europe-wide event held annually on 26th September to promote linguistic diversity and cultural awareness.
We’re excited to invite you to a special evening of celebration - a chance to reconnect with friends, reflect on your journey, and collect your A Level certificates.
Let’s celebrate your achievements together 💛
We are delighted to share our Term 1 News with you, celebrating the incredible highlights from Gordano School.

Gordano’s Head of PE, Emma Harradine, has recently returned from an incredible week in Croatia, where she joined the England men’s and women’s table tennis teams at the European Team Championships. The event brought together the very best players from across Europe, following on from the qualifying stages held in Sarajevo earlier this year.
Emma’s trip was part of the “She Coaches” programme, a national initiative supporting and developing the next generation of elite female coaches.
During the week, Emma had the opportunity to experience first-hand what goes on behind the scenes at a major international event. She spent time in the training hall supporting the England teams, observing how Europe’s top players prepare, train and adapt their tactics in competition. She also watched some of the world’s best teams in action, including Germany, France and Sweden.
Emma said “It was a fantastic experience, made even more special by the success of the England women’s team, who reached the last 16 and in doing so qualified for the World Team Championships, which will be held in London in May 2026.”
Her time in Croatia has provided fresh inspiration and insights that she is eager to use to motivate and develop young athletes within the PE department at Gordano School.
