House Captains Lead the Way with Spectacular Staff “Masked Singer” Event

As part of her Aspire role—designed to unlock student potential in all its forms—Miss Pope approached our House Captains to see whether they would be interested in leading interhouse events. The aim was to give students meaningful opportunities to take ownership, plan activities, and develop their leadership skills.
The Cromarty House Captains—Mia, George, Sophie and Gemma—were quick to step forward with enthusiasm. They proposed a brilliant idea: a Masked Singer event. We decided to launch a staff version to create a light‑hearted, entertaining occasion that both staff and students could enjoy together.
The event was expertly hosted by Mia, George and Sophie, along with Niamh, the Portland House Captain, who all did an outstanding job keeping the audience engaged and the atmosphere buzzing.
Staff volunteers fully embraced the fun, performing in imaginative costumes that kept everyone guessing. The performers were:
- Mr Hutchinson as Panda
- Mr Earle as King of the Bees
- Mrs Bernard as Queen Bee
- Mr Thomas as Angler Fish
- Mr Hemmings as Skeletor
The event was very well attended by students from all year groups, who contributed hugely to the atmosphere. With waving arms, loud cheers and plenty of applause, they created an infectious sense of excitement that made every reveal even more special.
Adding to the fun, students from Years 9–11 across all houses volunteered to serve on the House guessing panels. Their detective skills added a fantastic layer of anticipation to each performance and after a lively and entertaining contest, Cromarty claimed 1st place.
We originally had ten staff volunteers, so with the enthusiasm already shown, we’re hopeful that a Part 2 of the Masked Singer will be making its way into the calendar very soon!
This event was a wonderful example of student leadership in action—well done to all involved.
