Year 12 Biology Field Trip to Braunton Burrows

Our Year 12 Biology students took part in a field trip to Braunton Burrows in Devon, a key element of the A Level Biology curriculum. The visit offered a hands-on opportunity to apply classroom learning to a real-world environment, helping students develop essential skills in scientific investigation and data analysis.

As part of their study on ecological succession, students conducted plant species sampling along a transect from the beach inland, observing how vegetation changes across the sand dune ecosystem. They also measured abiotic factors such as wind speed and soil temperature, and collected soil samples for further testing back in the science lab.

Throughout the trip, students demonstrated a strong sense of responsibility and genuine curiosity about the natural environment. They represented the school with enthusiasm and maturity, making the most of this hands-on learning experience.
