Year 10 Students Explore Healthcare Careers in Hands-On Workshop Day

Fifteen enthusiastic Year 10 Health and Social Care students from Gordano School recently took part in an immersive careers experience day at the University of the West of England, designed to offer a hands-on introduction to a variety of roles within the healthcare sector.
Hosted across six interactive workshops, the event introduced students to careers including nursing, physiotherapy, and social work. Throughout the day, students engaged in a range of practical activities—performing CPR, exploring diagnostic procedures, and even assisting in the delivery of a robotic baby simulation.
The day offered students a unique insight into the realities of working in health and social care, sparking thoughtful conversations about their future career paths. The students described the experience as both eye-opening and inspiring, with many now actively considering a future in the sector.
Following the success of this event, a similar workshop day is planned for Gordano School’s Year 12 students in the near future.
