Sixth Form Bake Off Raises Funds for Worthy Causes

The Sixth Form Common Room was filled with the smell of freshly baked cakes, cookies, and pastries this week as students took part in the highly anticipated Sixth Form Bake Off. Tutor groups across Years 12 and 13 battled it out for the title of Star Bakers, showcasing impressive creativity, teamwork, and culinary skill.
Each tutor group submitted a selection of homemade bakes - from classic Victoria sponges and brownies to ambitious themed cupcakes and delicately decorated biscuits. The atmosphere was a perfect blend of friendly competition and community spirit, with students supporting each other and celebrating every entry.
A panel of staff members volunteered as judges, taking on the challenging (but delicious) task of sampling each bake. Judges scored entries on presentation, taste, originality, and teamwork. After lots of thoughtful (and enthusiastic!) tasting, the panel praised the overall standard of baking, commenting on the exceptional effort shown by every group.
A huge congratulations to our winners:
🥇 1st Place – 12SF3 with their stunning Afternoon Tea theme
🥈 Runners‑up – 12SF2
🏅 Highly Commended – 13SF4
Beyond the fun of the competition, the event also carried a meaningful purpose. All proceeds from the Bake Off are going to the same charities supported by our RAG efforts: Caring in Bristol and Be More Ben.
- Caring in Bristol works to prevent homelessness and support vulnerable people in the local community.
- Be More Ben provides emotional support for families grieving the loss of a child, helping them connect with others and find strength through shared experience.
By taking part, students not only enjoyed a memorable and uplifting event but also helped raise funds for causes that make a genuine difference to people’s lives.
A huge well done to all our Sixth Form bakers, and thank you to everyone who bought a slice, cast a vote, or helped organise the competition. Events like this highlight the power of teamwork, generosity, and community spirit within our school.
We can’t wait for next year’s Bake Off!
