A team of four Year 8 and 9 students recently competed in the Regional Final of the UKMT Team Maths Challenge at Sidcot School, showcasing their impressive skills and teamwork. The event brought together 19 teams from across the region for a thrilling day of mathematical challenges.
Over the course of four rounds, including a fast-paced relay round where over 70 students raced to solve Maths problems, the Gordano team consisting of Koroush, Jacob, Ben and Florence stood out with their exceptional performance.
The students finished in an outstanding fourth place overall, securing victory in two of the rounds, including a perfect score on the highly challenging Crossnumber round.

In particular, Florence received a personal mention for her exceptional problem-solving abilities, a recognition that further exemplified the strength of the team.
"This was a fantastic achievement for our students," said the team’s coach, Nicola Goodwin. "They demonstrated a high level of skill, focus, and determination. Their ability to work together so effectively was remarkable and is a true reflection of their hard work and dedication."
