Gordano School Outdoor Learning Space Transformed Thanks to Local Volunteers

Gordano School’s ‘Secret Garden’ has been given a new lease of life thanks to the generosity and hard work of nearly 40 volunteers from Enjoy Church, who dedicated their bank holiday weekend to revitalising the outdoor learning space.
As part of Enjoy Church’s community-focused Serve Week, volunteers rolled up their sleeves to clear rubble, level the ground, and create a more inviting and functional environment for students and staff to enjoy. Enhancements to the garden include a newly built log store, improvements to the central fire pit, and a thoughtfully constructed seating area made from logs—perfect for outdoor lessons.
Adding a unique and sustainable touch, the team repurposed old sinks discovered on-site to create herb planters, blending charm and environmental awareness in equal measure. Staying true to Gordano School’s ethos—Dream Big, Do Your Best, Give Back—affirmations have also been placed throughout the garden, offering words of encouragement and positivity to all who visit.
