Gordano School - GCSE Press Release 2023

On Thursday 24th August we welcomed our Year 11 students into school to collect their GCSE results. We are so proud of each and every student, and we were delighted to be able to share the morning with our young people to celebrate their achievements.

There was a host of top performers, with 32 pupils achieving at least eight Grade 7s or better. These included Halima Heard-Williams, who secured a Grade 9 in eight of her GCSEs. Also, Stanley Godbehere, Piotr Petrynski, Joe Roome, Emma Seers, Haiyi Wang and Bailey Whitlock (with six Grade 9s). However, achievement across the whole ability profile has been strong.

Gordano’s Headteacher, Louise Blundell, commented, “We are so pleased to be able to celebrate the achievements of this year group. As a cohort they have brilliantly navigated a challenging few years in their educational journey, demonstrating their resilience and determination each step of the way. We are so delighted to see their individual achievements today. We are also incredibly proud of the young people they have grown in to through their time at Gordano School – they are a wonderful year group, and we wish them all the very best in their future pathway.

“Many of our young people will be returning to Gordano Sixth Form, which saw some pleasing results last week. Whether our students are staying with us, moving onto college or progressing to Apprenticeships, we wish them every success in their bright futures. Congratulations to them all and I would also like to extend a huge thank you to our staff and parents who have supported them unconditionally.”
