Gordano School Careers Convention Inspires Students and Families

Gordano School has hosted its annual Careers Convention, welcoming hundreds of students and parents for an evening dedicated to exploring future opportunities.
The event brought together a wide range of employers from diverse industries alongside representatives from universities, colleges, and apprenticeship providers. Visitors had the chance to ask questions, gain insight into different career paths, and discover the skills and qualifications needed to succeed.
This year’s highlights included a special visit from an ex-Gordano student who now works for Aston Martin on a degree apprenticeship, returning with her employer – and an Aston Martin car – to showcase opportunities in the automotive sector. Other employer exhibitors with former students included Babcock, Barratt Redrow, CAB IT, RSM and S&W, and it was great to welcome them back. We would like to thank all our employers, colleges, apprenticeship providers, and universities for presenting their courses and training routes.
Year 10 students particularly benefited from the chance to discuss work experience opportunities, while students in Years 9–13 and their parents attended highly popular talks in the Sixth Form Hall on Apprenticeships, College, and University pathways.
The Careers Convention once again proved to be an invaluable opportunity for the Gordano community, helping students make informed decisions about their futures while connecting families with the world of work and further education.
“We were delighted to see so many students and parents engaging with the opportunities on offer. Having former students return to inspire the next generation makes this event even more special,”
Lisa Gardiner, Careers Advisor at Gordano School
“We would like to thank all the organisations who supported the evening and contributed to its success.” added Sue Jones, Careers Advisor at Gordano School.
The Careers Convention is just one of many incredible careers events in the Gordano School calendar, which also includes Futures Week, Year 10 mock employer interviews, teatime networking events, and more.
