Year 12 and 13 Historians Get Creative in Pumpkin Carving Competition

Students from Years 12 and 13 put their creativity and historical knowledge to the test during a fun-filled lunchtime for the annual History Pumpkin Competition.

Organised by Mrs Griffiths and Ms Thomson, students were challenged to carve a pumpkin inspired by a historical figure, event or theme. A special thank you goes to Ms Thomson, who generously gave up both her time and classroom to make the event possible.

The competition produced an impressive range of creations, with designs featuring the Princes in the Tower, Florence Nightingale, and even a pumpkin carving of Head of History Mr Eastwood.

The difficult task of judging the entries fell to Mr Boulton, who selected the Eastwood pumpkin as the overall winner, with Florence Nightingale taking second place.

No lunchtime competition would be complete without a few sweet treats, and students enjoyed plenty of sweets throughout the event. The winning carvers were also rewarded with tubs of chocolates for their efforts.

A huge well done to everyone who took part and helped make the competition such a success. It was a fantastic way to spend a lunchtime, bringing together creativity, enthusiasm for History and plenty of fun. We look forward to seeing what imaginative designs appear next year!
