Students Explore Future Opportunities at City of Bristol College
A group of Year 11 students recently visited the City of Bristol College, College Green Campus, where they enjoyed an informative and engaging morning exploring the wide range of courses, facilities and opportunities available after secondary education.
The visit began with a tour of the college's A Level and T Level teaching areas, providing students with an insight into the different pathways available to them after completing their studies at Gordano. During the visit, students were also delighted to meet several former Gordano students, hearing first-hand about their experiences of college life and the opportunities they are now pursuing.
Students then explored the college's impressive specialist facilities, including the Catering kitchens and training areas, the Hair and Beauty department, and the Childcare, Health and Social Care faculties. The visit gave students the chance to see the industry-standard environments in which learners develop their skills and prepare for future careers.
To help students become familiar with the campus location and commuting options, the morning concluded with a walking tour of the surrounding area, highlighting key travel routes and local amenities.
The college staff were impressed by the enthusiasm and engagement shown throughout the visit.
Sophie, from the Schools Liaison Team, commented: "Everyone was thoroughly engaged and interested in what we have to offer. It's lovely to see young people who are so keen to get a step ahead towards their future plans.
The experience clearly had a positive impact on students, with many leaving the campus feeling more informed and confident about their future choices.
One student reflected:
"I didn't think I'd like the area, but now that I've visited I know that's where I want to study when I leave Gordano."
Another commented on the facilities available:
"The hair and beauty rooms are so spacious and have so much kit you can learn with."
Students were also enthusiastic about the practical opportunities available through courses, with one noting:
"It's great that you get a work placement with so many courses."
Perhaps most importantly, the visit helped students feel more confident about taking their next steps:
"Seeing the college today has given me more confidence to apply."
Visits such as these play an important role in supporting students as they consider their post-16 and post-18 options, helping them make informed decisions about their future education and career pathways. We would like to thank the team at City of Bristol College for their warm welcome and for providing such a valuable and inspiring experience for our students.
