Activities Week 2026: A Week of Adventure, Creativity and New Friendships

Students enjoyed another fantastic Activities Week, an annual opportunity to step away from the classroom, try something new, challenge themselves and build friendships through a wide range of exciting experiences.

With activities taking place across the country and closer to home, students in Years 7 to 9 embraced every opportunity to develop new skills, create lasting memories and enjoy experiences they may never have tried before. From learning how to create Special FX makeup and building rockets to white-water rafting in North Wales and surfing on the Cornish coast, there was something for everyone.

Activities Week perfectly reflects our school values of Dream Big, Do Your Best and Give Back, while also promoting our key initiatives of kindness and resilience. Throughout the week, students challenged themselves to try new things, supported one another through unfamiliar experiences and demonstrated the positive attitudes that make our school community so special.

Year 7 Adventures

Our Year 7 students had a busy and exciting week, beginning with a visit to the Bristol Zoo Project, where they enjoyed learning about wildlife and taking part in a photography competition.

Students also tested their creativity and coordination during a circus skills workshop with Circomedia, learning a variety of new techniques and discovering talents they never knew they had.

Many Year 7 students attended the residential trip to PGL Osmington Bay, where they took part in a range of outdoor activities, overcame personal challenges and, most importantly, made new friends as they approach the end of their first year at secondary school.

Year 8 Challenges

Year 8 students were treated to an action-packed programme of activities. The popular MOJO experience in school gave students the chance to experience zorbing, archery tag and dodgeball.

A day trip enjoying an ice-skating session followed by a more relaxing afternoon at the cinema watching Toy Story 5 was another highlight.

Students also visited Ninja Warrior and enjoyed a friendly competition at the bowling alley. For those who enjoy watersports, paddleboarding and an inflatable assault course at West Country Water Park provided plenty of excitement and opportunities to build confidence.

Adventure Bristol at Ashton Court  offered students the chance to tackle high ropes courses and take part in team-building games, encouraging cooperation and resilience throughout the day.

Year 9 Experiences

Year 9 students had an incredible selection of trips and activities to choose from.

Some students learned valuable outdoor and survival skills during the Bushcraft Adventure in Gloucestershire, while others travelled to Cornwall for a Falmouth-based adventure that included surfing, exciting quarry activities such as ziplining and a visit to the world-famous Eden Project.

A group of students travelled to London, where they enjoyed sightseeing and experienced outstanding theatre shows Hercules and The Lion King.

Others headed to the Isle of Wight for a range of watersports activities, while those visiting North Wales enjoyed an adrenaline-filled programme featuring white-water rafting, forest rollercoasters and river tubing.

Students on the West Midlands trip visited Alton Towers, explored the West Midlands Safari Park and experienced snow-based activities at the SnowDome.

Something for Everyone

In addition to the residentials and day trips, students in Years 7 to 9 could choose to take part in Priority Football Week or enjoy the popular base activities programme.

This year's programme offered an impressive variety of creative, sporting and team-based activities, including Steampunk doodling, piñata making, Special FX makeup, multisports, Taskmaster challenges, the Potato Olympics and rocket building. These activities encouraged students to work together, think creatively and have fun while trying something completely new.

A Week to Remember

Activities Week continues to be one of the highlights of the school year, providing students with memorable experiences beyond the classroom. The week showcased the power of teamwork, creativity, kindness and resilience, while giving students the confidence to step outside their comfort zones and discover new interests.

Most importantly, Activities Week brought our school values to life. Students were encouraged to Dream Big by embracing new opportunities, Do Their Best when facing challenges and Give Back through supporting and encouraging those around them. The friendships formed, skills developed and memories created throughout the week will stay with our students long after the activities themselves have finished.

A huge thank you goes to all the staff, trip leaders and organisers who helped make Activities Week such a success. We hope all our students had an amazing time and we look forward to seeing what adventures Activities Week brings next year.

Parent Feedback
  • I have noticed a marked change in [Student]'s self confidence [since Activities Week]. Being active, trying new activities, being with her tutor group and just enjoying each other's company has had such a positive impact... I think the children are VERY fortunate to have this opportunity as I know other secondary schools do not have a whole week dedicated to fun and active days. In a world where we are battling screen addiction, it is so lovely for them to just be kids, be active, be social and move like their bodies are designed to do. Thank you so much!

  • A huge thank you to all the teachers and staff for all their hard work during Activities Week. We really appreciate the time, effort, and care that goes into taking the children out on trips each day. It’s been such a wonderful week of experiences and memories for them. Thank you for everything you do!

  • [Student] has come home with a little tan, a few dirty clothes and, most importantly, a whole load of wonderful memories

  • It was a massive decision for us to send our daughter to London ... She had an amazing time and it has done her the world of good, making her realise how much more independent she can be.
