Gold, Silver and Bronze: Gordano Students Shine in National Maths Challenge

Gordano School is celebrating the success of 88 students from Years 9 , 10 and 11 who took part in the UKMT Intermediate Maths Challenge. Students achieved a fantastic 13 Gold certificates, 25 Silver certificates, and 14 Bronze certificates. Haydn and Beatrice scored best in Years 9 and 11 respectively, while Jacob scored Best in Year 10 and Best in School.
Based on these results, 11 students qualified for follow-on rounds. This included 9 qualifiers for the Kangaroo challenge, and 2 qualifiers for the prestigious Olympiad challenge (for which fewer than 1,800 students qualify nationally). Students achieved further success in these rounds; in the Kangaroo Florence and Bethan scored Gold, and in the Olympiad Beatrice earned Distinction.
Miss Goodwin, the school's Maths Excellence Co-ordinator, said "we are exceptionally proud of all of our students who took part in these challenges. They should be very proud of themselves and the success they have achieved."
