An Outstanding Performance from Our Junior Dance Company!

We are incredibly proud of our Junior Dance Company, who captivated audiences at the North Somerset Schools Dance Festival, held at The Weston Playhouse, with two exceptional routines.
A heartfelt thank you to Miss Baldwin for her creativity, dedication, and inspirational leadership in choreographing the pieces and guiding the students through such a valuable artistic experience.
Miss Baldwin shared:
“The girls demonstrated exceptional professionalism during both technical rehearsals and their performances on stage. We love attending the event each year.”
A special congratulations goes to Hollie C and Eloise S, who were selected for interviews during the interval highlighting their confidence, talent, and passion for dance.
Hollie, the eldest performer of the evening, was interviewed by Barry Excell (North Somerset PE Association Committee Member), sharing insights into her extensive dance training both in and out of school. She proudly expressed that Dance is her favourite subject and revealed that if she weren’t a dancer, she would be a dance teacher.
Eloise, recognised as one of the most experienced dancers, spoke about her impressive dance journey - most recently performing at Move It, one of the world’s largest dance conventions. When asked what advice she would give her younger self, Eloise replied: “Always be yourself, and never give up.”
These interviews were a wonderful recognition of their enthusiasm, maturity, and dedication.
Each year, the North Somerset PE Association, who runs the North Somerset Dance Schools Festival set a topic/theme. This year’s theme was 'Classic Literature' and under the guidance of Miss Baldwin, students thoughtfully selected the beloved piece of classic literature Annie as one of their feature works this year.
Set in 1930s New York City, the story of Annie follows the spirited young orphan Annie, who dreams of a brighter future beyond the walls of Miss Hannigan’s orphanage. Her life changes when she is invited to spend Christmas with billionaire Oliver Warbucks. Through determination, charm, and a hopeful heart, Annie transforms the lives of those around her as she searches for the family she’s always longed for.
In addition to Annie, the students also presented a second performance piece that evening entitled 'Dancin’ Fool'. A dynamic jazz piece infused with acro elements. This dance pushed these performers to develop precision, stamina and stylistic versatility showcasing their technical and artistic growth.
Since October, the girls have dedicated themselves to refining these two contrasting works, demonstrating commitment, teamwork and passion throughout the rehearsal process. Miss Baldwin was truly proud of how professional the girls were throughout the technical rehearsals and backstage on the night. All girls worked together demonstrating our whole school aims of 'Doing your best, Dreaming Big and Giving Back'.
If you would like to see both pieces performed one final time, we warmly invite you to the Gordano Dance Showcase on 28th and 29th April. Tickets can be booked here:
