Gordano School Shines at Bristol Sixth Forms Team Maths Competition

On 11th November 2025, two talented teams from Gordano School proudly represented us at the Autumn leg of the Bristol Sixth Forms Team Maths Competition, held in the impressive Great Hall at Bristol Grammar School. This prestigious event has a long history and expanded significantly this year—making 2025 a landmark moment as Gordano joined for the very first time. Head of Maths Mr Woods and Maths Excellence Coordinator Miss Goodwin joined them at the event.
The competition featured two parallel challenges: one for A-Level Mathematicians and another for those also studying Further Maths. Across two fast-paced 8-minute pairs rounds and a demanding group round, the atmosphere buzzed with energy as 283 of the region’s brightest mathematical minds tackled complex problems.
In the final standings, Gordano’s Further Maths team achieved an impressive joint 11th place out of 34 teams, while our Single Maths team secured a solid mid-table finish. With most of our competitors in Year 12, we’re already looking forward to seeing them return even stronger in the Spring leg.
Our students were outstanding ambassadors for Gordano School.
Head of Maths, Mr Woods, remarked: “These students exemplify the best of Gordano—dreaming big and competing against a host of private schools in a challenging environment. They should all be proud of their efforts.”
Congratulations to all involved—you’ve set a fantastic precedent for future competitions!
