Spotlight on Talent: Year 9 Student Persephone Shines at Ham Farm Festival

We are incredibly proud to share that Year 9 student Persephone was selected to perform at the prestigious Young Performers' Spotlight at the Ham Farm Festival.

Persephone opened the event with a stunning performance, showcasing not only her musical talent but also her quiet confidence and composure.

The festival organiser praised her, saying: “She was brilliant! So quiet and unassuming, and then she sang and played beautifully. She was first up too, and had the quiet confidence to perform very calmly and confidently. I loved her song!”

Her music teacher also commended her dedication and preparation:

“Persephone worked incredibly hard in the lead-up to the festival. Her commitment and focus were evident in every rehearsal, and it was wonderful to see her shine on stage.”

We’re thrilled that Persephone had the opportunity to share her talent with a wider audience and hope she enjoyed the experience as much as those watching enjoyed her performance.

Following her outstanding performance, Persephone has been invited back to perform at the main festival! She’ll be taking to the stage on 25th July, sharing the spotlight with the South Gloucester Rock & Pop School during their set. If you'd like to come along and show your support, you can find all the event details here:

Persephone’s musical journey continues to impress, as she has been offered a solo slot at the Impero Lounge during the Portishead Arts Festival ‘ArtPort’ in September. This is a truly remarkable achievement for a Year 9 student and a clear reflection of her growing talent and dedication.

To be given this honour at such a prominent community event is a testament to her talent, hard work, and stage presence. We can’t wait to see her shine once again!

This opportunity follows her standout performance of “Be My Baby” by The Ronettes alongside the Gordano School Jazz Band during the recent Netherlands tour. Her voice was a perfect match for the song, and she delivered it with such poise and confidence - it was clear she felt completely at home on stage.
