16-19 Tuition Fund

16 to 19 Tuition Fund 2021/22 academic year

The purpose of this statement is to set out how Gordano School will use the 16 to 19 tuition fund allocation to support students who have been academically disadvantaged due to coronavirus (COVID-19). The full guidance can be accessed here:

16 to 19 Funding Guidance

How the school will use the 16 to 19 tuition fund

The 16 to 19 tuition fund will be used to provide small group or one to one tuition or mentoring and support for students aged 16 to 19 who did not achieve a GCSE grade 4 or above in English Language and/or Maths at age 16.

This may include a mix of both teaching and learning support staff as deemed appropriate. The provision will not be limited to tuition for English and maths, but will also be used to help progressing students where learning may have been disrupted because of COVID-19.

Students with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) will also be supported by this provision. Tuition will take place in small groups or 1:1 sessions and will be scheduled in addition to the planned programme of study hours already timetabled for the academic year 2021/22. Tuition and additional support may be delivered using a blend of online and on-site delivery.

Examples of some of the Tuition Support on offer will include:

· GCSE exam re-sit preparation

· Curriculum knowledge or skills development catch-up sessions

· Students identified who may benefit from additional small group support

Tuition support offered will be based on an individual needs assessment, the identification of an individual starting point, clear learning goals, expectations and outcomes.

Our commitment is to ensure the tuition fund is used in accordance with the Government’s guidance. We will record all tuition spends during the academic year 2021/22 and notify the Education Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) of any underspend from the Fund for it to be reclaimed.
