Year 10 GCSE Results

Many Year 11 students started AS courses at Gordano School this term following the completion of GCSE’s in Year 10.
Students were identified by subject teachers and invited to take a “fast track” GCSE course in English, Maths, Psychology, Sociology, Art and Design, Statistics and History.
The students are the first cohort to come through Gordano Schools Personalised Learning programme which allows them to begin their studies for GCSEs in Year 9.

The overall pass rate for the Year 10 students identified for fast track courses was 100% A* - C with outstanding performances from Suzannah King who sat English Language, English Literature, Maths, History and Art and Design and received  5 A*’s and Olivia Withers who sat 4 exams and received 4 A*’s.

Deputy Head Gavin Ball said “These results are absolutely fantastic. A number of years ago we changed the curriculum structure after carefully listening to feedback from students and staff. We had the belief that we would create a curriculum that fitted the stage a student was at in their development rather than the artificial age-directed curriculum that controlled the destinies of our young people.”
