Head of Learning Sophie Francis receives Innovation and Impact Award for Leading Edge Work 2010
Gordano's status as a Leading Edge school since 2003 has enabled some really exciting and innovative projects, developing learning and teaching within Gordano and sharing best practice across schools nationally. Projects are run by members of staff and then disseminated across faculties and the whole school and many projects which began as Leading Edge work are now common practice across the school.
At the 2010 Leading Edge Headteacher's Conference, Gordano School was awarded an Innovation and Impact Award by the national programme, in recognition of the innovative learning initiatives that have been implemented in the school. The award was presented by Liz Reid, Chief Executive of the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust, and was awarded to ten schools out of the 150 schools that attended. We are proud to be regularly asked to present our work at conferences and to have had articles published about innovation within Gordano in the Leading Edge ‘Leading Change’ magazine. Most recently, we were awarded an Innovation Grant for some work we are doing developing an online Learner Profile reflection tool as part of our Effort Agenda.
