Teacher of English

The School

Gordano School is part of the Lighthouse Schools Partnership (Multi-Academy Trust).  We have a reputation for success that is based on excellent teaching and high standards. We are proud to be a comprehensive school and value the success and achievement of every one of our pupils. We are a member of the North Somerset Teaching Alliance and were designated as a National Teaching School in September 2013.

In April 2012 Gordano was judged to be Outstanding in all categories in an Ofsted inspection. 2017 results have again shown the school to be ‘Above Average’ in progress at both Key Stage 4 and 5.

The Role

For September 2018, we are seeking a well-qualified, highly motivated and innovative Teacher of English on a permanent and full time contract to work within our talented and successful English team. Experience and/or a preference of teaching A Level English Language or Literature would be welcomed.

We hope to appoint someone who is ambitious and as committed to creative and compelling teaching as we are.

This role is suited for an NQT or more experienced teacher.  The possibility of a Faculty TLR for ‘Teaching and Learning’ exists for a suitably qualified candidate.

The successful candidate will:

  • be a strong classroom teacher
  • be able to demonstrate commitment to quality of teaching and learning across all three key stages, ideally encompassing experience of English Language or Literature at A-Level.
  • be able to enthuse, engage and motivate students
  • be a strong team player
  • be willing to be involved in the extra-curricular life of the school
