Careers Convention- Thursday 5th October 2017 Main Hall 6-8pm

September 2017- Planning a Careers Convention

Our Careers Team are in the final stages of organising this year's Careers Convention. Headed up by Employability Coordinator, Debbie Crosby, the now annual event links Gordano School students with employers and businesses at local, regional and even national level.

A careers convention of this size requires lots of prior planning in order to make it a success. Debbie’s experience within the wider careers arena is pivotal when organising and coordinating events of this nature. Gordano School is committed to building and maintaining links with business contacts through its Gordano Partners programme, and Debbie has been involved in the Gordano Partners scheme since its launch.

The Careers Convention provides parents and students with an opportunity to swiftly learn more about a wide range of different careers options, and to put questions to delegates in those industries.

Last year, the Careers team arranged for 51 businesses to host stands at the convention, including many different Universities, Alliance Homes, Women in Property, GKN Aerospace, Avon & Somerset Police, RIBA (Royal Institute of British Architects) and SKF to name but a few.

It is likely that around 50 businesses will attend the 2017 convention. The event takes place on the evening of 5th October, and will run from 6-8pm. It’s a great opportunity for businesses to raise awareness of their corporate profile amongst the next generation of students moving towards the world of work.
