Official Opening – New English Block

Gordano School's new English block was officially opened this week by Paul Jacobs(North Somersets Assistant Director for Learning Children and Young Peoples Services).  Other guests attending were Cllr Jeremy Blatchford , Chair of Portishead Town Council, Cllr Arthur Terry  and Cllr David Pasley (Portishead), along with members of the English faculty and School Governors.
The English block will be known as The Silverthorne Building,  in honour of Graham Silverthorne,  Gordano's previous Headteacher. Mr Silverthorne left Gordano School in 2009 to become Principal of Long Island School in Hong Kong.
The new English Block provides 21st century teaching and learning facilities consisting of seven new classrooms, one IT suite and a Creative Media suite.
Students from all Year groups were involved in hosting the guests, notably Laurence Wellesbury - Year 10, Lewis Cheetham - Year 9, William Jones - Year 10, Carola Brusoni - Year 10, Kerry-Ann Bentley - Year 12 , Rosie Collings - Year 8, Laura Sargent - Year 13  and Laura Jones-Gerrard - Year 13
