MyPM Recycled Fashion Show
Year 8 pupils proved they could make something out of nothing this week when they were set a task to make a garment out of 5 binliners, sellotape and other recyclable materials in the ‘MY PM’/Design Technology Challenge.
The winning group, Alice Linton-Butt, Georgia Owen and Chloe Davis from 8L2, produced a show-stopping dress complete with crinoline, hat and gloves made from binliners, carrier bags and ribbon. When asked about the secret of their success, Alice said that the key was organisation and planning. Her group had already researched their design well before the lesson and brought in their own extra materials. That meant they could completely focus on constructing their design (partly inspired by Lady Gaga) on the day.
Pupils from 8C2, 8F1 and 8P1 also produced some excellent, imaginative designs and were awarded joint second place. As well as enjoying the challenge, pupils had to work under pressure as a team whilst exercising their creativity.
The ‘My PM’ team would like to thank all involved – the pupils, the DT team and the judges (Mrs Boden, Mrs Dyke and Mrs Clayton) for helping to make the 2012 Fashion Challenge the best yet!
