We have had a lot to celebrate in recent weeks at school. Our Year 11s enjoyed their Prom at the Webbington Hotel last week and it was great to see them let their hair down after all the months of work and the recent weeks in the exam halls. Our Sixth Formers also celebrated the end of exams with a Summer Ball at Bristol Museum. It was a very grand location for a stylish event.
I am pleased to congratulate the Dance Academy on reaching the final of the Great Big Dance Off for the second year in a row. Unfortunately, they were not able to defend their title but Miss Lloyd was delighted with their performance and we are all very proud of their success.
Our Sports Day last week was blessed with glorious sunshine. Shannon House took the Victor Ludorum Cup and on a personal note, I was happy to live to tell the tale after my annual outing in the staff relay.
Our Sixth Form Induction Day has just finished and I have really enjoyed seeing our students move ‘up and on’ in their progress through school. I am really proud of our Sixth Form and our Electives Fair today offered a frankly incomparable choice of Wednesday enrichments to our most senior pupils. We always have a good number of young people who join the Sixth Form from other schools and their feedback today has been very positive. They say that they have felt welcome and we really mean that.
So Activities Week is here. I’m going to Germany with Year 8 and I hope that every one of our pupils enjoys the opportunities and fun of Activities Week. We’ll have a full report in the next newsletter.
We still have great things to look forward to this term, amongst which are the Year 6 Intake Day, the Summer Concert, the Photography Show and DT Faculty’s exhibition which is called ‘Departures’ this year.
