Gordano School has launched a ‘Gordano School Community Fund’ to help reduce the impact of the current Coronavirus crisis on the education and achievement for children in the most disadvantaged families.
The current crisis is having, and will continue to have, a clear impact on the lives of all children in all sorts of ways. To help support our most disadvantaged families in Portishead and the surrounding area, for whom the impact of the Coronavirus crisis will be felt the hardest, both educationally and socially- we have launched ‘Gordano School Community Fund,’ to support them. Rest assured, at Gordano we have already committed to investing more in supporting students and families impacted. We are taking a number of actions to support those who need it most now and this will continue on our return to school.
Our decision to launch this fund has been motivated, in part, by the numerous offers of help from our community. Many have offered practical, financial and emotional support for those most affected by this crisis. It has been truly heartening to see such generosity across our community. Our aim is that this fund will enable members of the community and organisations, to support our most disadvantaged families. All funds raised will be used to; provide IT equipment, access to online and physical resources and additional expenses to support students in their academic achievement and progression.
The fund will be ongoing and enable the school to provide additional support to those that need it most, at this time and in the months and years that follow. As the school returns to a new kind of normal, whatever that may be, this fund will support those most affected, so that they can achieve their educational goals and progress to their next steps in further education or their chosen career path.
We recognise that many families are currently being significantly affected, by this crisis economically, but, as is typical of our wonderful community, we have been overwhelmed that so many individuals and organisations are keen to support in any way that they can, to help others, in the greatest need.
If you would like to make a one-off or regular donation please do so here. The fund also has a QR code, which can be scanned to make a donation at any time. It is also possible to support the school through Amazon ‘Smile’ purchases at no additional cost. Details of how to do this are on the link below. It works in exactly the same as the normal Amazon website, but purchases made through Amazon ‘Smile’ can pass 0.5% of the cost to the charitable cause of your choice. Whilst the contribution of each purchase is small, the cumulative impact of a community like ours can be significant.
Many thanks in advance for any support you are able to offer at we fully appreciate this is a challenging time for everyone.
