Gordano School joined in the Global Enterprise Week in November through its annual Make Your Mark Challenge.
Twenty Year 10 Business Students worked in teams to come up with an idea to "Create a School Newspaper". Students had to prepare a 3 minute presentation to a panel of four judges including Gary Lewis, Headteacher; Gavin Ball, Deputy Head; Rhona Murphy, Head of Social Science and Tara Phillis, Human Resources Manager. All the teams had to produce information on a name; a front cover; contents list of regular features and how they would market the magazine. The winning team consisted of: Abigail Squire; Alisha Allen; Ellie Mentha & Rachel Howard whose magazine name of Merge represented their idea of attracting both genders. All students felt it was good to get an opportunity of putting their learning into practice and given the chance to make their own decisions.
