Headteachers Blog 13th March 2015
We are in the ‘steady progress’ phase of the year at present with a vast amount of activity in school focussed around revision sessions and effective completion of the syllabus for Year 11 and Sixth Form students. Fortunately, there have been a few highlights to lift our gaze. I missed last week’s Dance Showcase (as I was taking part in an Ofsted inspection on the far side of the country) and clearly I missed a real treat as the reviews have been fabulous. Our Dance Academy will be taking part once again in the Great Big Dance Off Competition. It would be fantastic if we were able to defend our title as national champions.
We put a high value on charitable activity at the school and will be eagerly supporting Red Nose Day this Friday. I would like to take the opportunity of praising 8L2 who with their tutor, Mr Yau, have raised almost £1,000 in support of the ‘Make a Wish Foundation’. This is exactly the sort of house and school spirit that we hope to see in Gordano students.
You will see in the Sporting Week report on the website that school teams are continuing to thrive. My particular congratulations to the U15 Rugby team who faced very strong opposition at the Sexey’s School tournament in Bruton. Coming second to the eventual winners was a creditable result.
